CENTENNIAL PARK |NEW SOUTH WALES |2019

WINNER of 2nd Place, Sub-Zero Wolf Kitchen Design Contest 2019–2021.

A sophisticated Art Deco renovation of a historic 1908 residence, blending modern elegance with cherished original features.

The overarching brief for the Centennial Park residence was to overhaul an existing Arts and Crafts house built in 1908, taking into consideration the many alterations and extensions completed over the preceding century.

The client wanted to remove the poorly executed 1980s renovation — the terracotta floors, green laminates, and yellow walls — while respecting and complementing the late 1920s additions that introduced distinct Art Deco features, including the rounded sandstone columns the client particularly adored.

Working with interior designer Isabelle Harris Design, the overarching goal was to create a modern fusion with the home's unique Art Deco character, using it as inspiration for a clean, sophisticated, and contemporary renovation.

There was also a desire for the spaces to feel soft, relaxed, and timeless — understated despite their inherent opulence. The kitchen became the showpiece of the home: a place where family gather and guests come together over shared experiences.
