This Birchgrove project celebrates the suburb’s streetscape while unlocking contemporary living to the rear. We secured Development Approval for a sensitive transformation that retains the original cottage and its familiar street frontage, then quietly opens into a modern home positioned to capture water views.

From the footpath, the house presents as the neighbourhood remembers it—scale, rhythm and material character intact. Beyond the threshold, the plan widens and light takes over. A new rear addition aligns with the pattern of contemporary developments along the street, bringing generous openings, improved planning and outdoor connections. Living spaces are oriented to the outlook, with glazing, terraces and planting framing the harbour beyond.

The design balances conservation and renewal. Front rooms receive subtle upgrades to comfort and services without losing their charm; the new work is legible, timeless and built to last.
